Community Highlights
IU Health Blackford offers a range of outpatient and primary care services to residents in Blackford and surrounding counties. Services include diabetic education, nutrition counseling, radiology, laboratory collection, rehabilitation, EKG, retail pharmacy, and onsite healthcare providers. The Healthy Beginnings program supports moms and babies by answering prenatal and postnatal questions, assisting with doctor's appointments, connecting to community resources, scheduling childbirth classes, providing breast pumps through insurance, offering car seat fitting, and delivering education on delivery and childcare.
The IU Health Blackford Laboratory serves as a collection site for laboratory orders, prioritizing patient care. Operating Monday to Friday (7 am to 5 pm) and Saturday (7 am to 12 pm), it provides convenient access for a broad range of laboratory collections.
The Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation team offers one-on-one care for various conditions, including orthopedic rehab, sports-related injuries, neurological rehab, and specialized programs like strength after breast cancer.
Physicians at the family healthcare provider office include Dr. Thomas Stewart, Dr. Thomas Lee, Dr. Helen Borgenheimer, Chantel Willmann (NP), and Sandra Duggan (NP). Radiology services, available Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, offer state-of-the-art equipment for diagnostic and screening mammography, CT scans, ultrasound, general X-ray, bone density, and EKG.
The IU Health Blackford Pharmacy fills prescriptions for community members and provides vaccines for patients 11 years and older, including COVID, flu, high dose flu, pneumonia, RSV, and shingles. The pharmacy accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, and offers some Medicare durable medical equipment. Operating Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm, it serves as a convenient healthcare resource for the community.
The Hartford City branch of VIA Credit Union is making a positive impact on the local community through generous donations and community initiatives. Recently, they spearheaded a collection to support the Blackford Senior Center, emphasizing their commitment to the well-being of the elderly in our area.
